Good month on the bike. #thisismaplewood #fueledbyscience #justanotherdayonthebike #gravelworlds17
July turned out to be a really solid month of training. I was able to get in 200 more miles in 2017 than 2016 in the same 4 week period. I wasn't able to get on much gravel, but that will soon change. I feel strong going into Gravel Worlds this year and I also feel much more confident in what I need to do during the race to perform well.

Good year so far. #thisismaplewood #fueledbyscience #justanotherdayonthebike
My goal this year wasn't to get in more miles, but to race more and get faster on the bike. I have been able to race more on gravel and I think I am stronger / faster than last year. I didn't expect to be over half way through the year and slightly ahead of last year's mileage. I do think going into Gravel Worlds this year, I have a better base and know more of what I can accomplish. My big goal is to go into the race rested and ride a smart race.

Been awhile
The last few weeks, I haven't been very good about keeping up on things. Seems like things have gotten very busy, now that we are moving to Lincoln, NE. We have bought a new house and I will be starting a new job with Lincoln Running Company in August.
But more importantly, training is going good for Gravel Worlds (150 miles) in August. Last week was a really solid week on the bike. The 460 miles was the second biggest week I have ever put in and I feel really strong. The key for going into Gravel Worlds is not to overtrain leading up to the race. I am beginning to figure out how my body is responding to the longer races and I know I still have some work to do. I feel more confident this year doing 150 miles of gravel, since last year was my first gravel race I participated in ever. After DK, I know I still have to work on my nutrition & hydration in the race. It is a little frustrating since I feel most of my training rides I don't have any problem at all.
I am also excited to move so that I can ride more consistently on gravel. I know that I am going to miss riding with my teammates and all of the group rides in St. Louis.
