Week #52 18,000+ miles for 2019
Well I made it over 18,000 miles for 2019. I didn't plan on this big of a year, it just sort of happened. 2020 will be a little different focus with the longer races - DKXL and riding across Nebraska. I have been very lucky to get to ride in some really cool places the last 12 months. Iceland was probably the highlight of the year. Getting to experience racing around a volcano was incredible (also very hard). I plan on doing a few new races in 2020 which I really enjoy getting to ride on new roads. Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate and I will be able to stay out of the basement this winter. Riding the single speed and the fat tire bike have been really fun out in the park and I plan on continuing to keep that up through the spring. My other big goals for 2020 are not to break any more bikes and not purchase any also. I think I have plenty of choices to ride and just keeping up on maintenance will help out my "bike budget" for the new year.

Week #51 DKXL!!
Well DKXL is happening! I was worried since I actually didn't get into DK through the lottery the last two years. Very excited to get to push myself through 350 miles of the Flint Hills. The main goal is going to be able to finish. I believe I have learned a lot the past year on pushing myself and knowing what I am capable of. 2020 is going to be a little different focus on racing since I am doing these longer ones. Not so much about how fast I can go, but seeing how far I can go.

Week #50 Getting close to wrapping things up.
As the year is wrapping up, the miles are piling up. I didn't intend to get quite as many miles in this year, but it has been fun and hard. My goal was to try to get in at least 1250 miles each month, but I am going to average right at 1500 miles. I have also already done 36 rides of 100 miles or more this year. Hopefully all of this training will be helpful for some of my adventures in 2020.

Week #49 Rolled over 17K this week
I was able to get over 17,000 miles for the year this week. That is averaging 349 miles per week so far. I have had only 11 weeks where I didn't ride over at least 300 miles. If everything goes as planned I should get over 18,000 for the year. I didn't really start out the year looking to have this big of a mileage year, it just kind of happened. 2020 will hopefully be a good year but once again I am not really trying to set any kind of mileage goals. It would be cool to get over 20K but that would take averaging over 384 miles per week all year. I think that is totally doable but I am not going to stress if it doesn't happen. The main goals for next year will be the longer events - DKXL and riding across Nebraska.

Week #48 Good Ol' Kansas Gravel
This was a good week riding down in Kansas. On Saturday the Move Up Off Road crew did a good ride from Lawrence to Topeka. We had a cross wind headed out and a good tailwind coming home. I got in 102 miles and that made it 4 rides in November over 100 miles. I ended up with 1487 miles for the month. I need just over 1300 more miles for the year to get over 18,000 miles for the year. Hopefully all of this work will pay off for 2020. I got my name in for DKXL, so I am really excited for that. I know it will be hard but I am up for the challenge. December will be another month of easy riding and spending time on the fat tire bike out in the park.
