Week #8 Things are coming back around

Week #8 - 368 miles

The end of this week, I finally started to feel a bit better. I have seemed to be tired and have a head cold that I couldn't shake. The weather has been a little warmer even though we have had a few days of wind. Saturday was a little tough into the headwind, but temps in the 50's have helped. Today was probably the best day of the month, little wind and fairly warm for the whole ride. I got in 100 miles on Saturday and 82 miles in today. Hopefully I can get back up to getting in 200 miles for the weekend here soon. The first two Saturdays in March will have to be short days since I have to work. If the weather is good this next Saturday I will try to get in 120-130 miles, then March 21st & 22nd will be two big days. I am also excited that the days will be getting longer here in a couple weeks. Nice to get home in the daylight for a change.

Week #7 Time to get back at it!

Week #7 - 355 miles

I had a good mileage week even though I am still feeling a little under the weather. I have been really tired and my head is a bit congested. My legs seem to feel fine though and once I get riding the rest of my body seems to come around. It was nice to get in 100+ miles on Saturday with Josh. It was my 18th 100+ miler since November of last year. I think my training for DKXL is going well. Hopefully things will warm up a little in March because I need to get in a couple really long rides before my next race which is at the end of March.

Week #6 Time to give things a little rest

Week #6 - 277 miles

I do have to say that I was really tired this week. I actually think I am more tired from traveling than from riding. The drive back from Phoenix seemed to really do me in. My legs don't feel super tired, but I thought I was going to come down with a cold all week. It is also hard to stay real motivated after putting in that many miles and not having to do anything else besides just ride all day. It also doesn't help that the weather is cold and windy back here. Yesterday wasn't too bad but I thought it would be good to go easy and just get 4 hours in. Today the wind was really tough, even when I had a "tailwind". This week was the first time in 13 weeks where I didn't get in a ride of 100+ miles, but I have already got in 9 rides over 100 miles in 2020. I plan on getting my mileage back up next week. Hopefully the weather will also cooperate.

Week #5 Moveup Off Road Training Camp

Week #5 - 573 miles
January - 1876 miles

I had a fun week in Phoenix training with the MUOR guys. After having a 7 day period of riding 675 miles, my legs and whole body, are tired. I also ended up driving 3,227 miles, which included Texas, then over to Arizona. I might actually be more tired from driving than the riding. My right hip flexor got really sore driving home today. We got to ride on some cool roads including up Humbolt Mnt., Crown King, and Mnt. Ord. I also did a solo day where I rode out to Horseshoe Reservoir. I would say the only downside was we had to ride on pavement quite a bit. Actually two of the rides where all asphalt. This is real early in my prepping for DKXL, but it gives me a bunch of confidence in my training and knowing that my body can handle a big block of training to prepare for an ultra event. This coming week will be all about recovery. I have already got in a couple easy days and Monday will also be the same. My next race isn't until the end of March, so that gives me lots of time to rest up and get a couple big more blocks to training in.
