Week #13 Still trying to keep things rolling

Week #13 - 500 miles

Got another 500 mile week in, so 2nd one of the year. My legs were pretty tired midweek but things came around this weekend. After spending 5 hours on the singlespeed on Saturday, I got in 121 miles today. The wind wasn't real bad just seemed to blow the hardest when I was in deep, sandy gravel. Coming home was nice with a tailwind for most of the way. I think each week there probably is less of a chance that DKXL will happen in May. Not sure that they can reschedule without it interfering with some other race that I have already planned. Until things get figured out, all I can do is keep riding.

Week #12 Just keep it rolling

Week #12 - 371 miles

Just trying to keep the training going as planned, but without knowing when the next race will be. I think it may be midsummer before things are happening again, but we will see. Saturday I was able to get in my 16th 100+ ride for the year. Doing two 50 miles loops was interesting, but I kind of liked it. The second loop seemed to go by pretty fast, kind of like doing an out and back. I haven't been getting in real long rides but consistent ones. Hopefully in the next couple weeks the weather will get a little warmer and I will start riding earlier in the day.

Week #11 Not sure what going to happen to all of the spring races, except they are not happening

Week #11 - 318 miles

Well shit, looks like a bunch of the spring races are getting cancelled. I know that is for the best and I hope people will understand whatever the response is from the organizers. This doesn't mean that training has to stop. For some folks, they are going to have a lot of free time - take advantage of it! I hope that by the end of May things will have settled down for DKXL, but who knows. I still plan on training as it is still a go and get in the miles so matter what the weather is like. Today was my 15 100+ mile ride, but now I need to get a few even longer rides in the books. Most races are probably going to be cancelled for the next 8 weeks, so I can stay home and do some epic rides on my own.

Week #10 Busy, but actually not on the bike

Week #10 - 231 miles

It doesn't happen very often these days but I am actually spending more time working than riding for a couple weeks. The store has their annual sale and it has been very busy, but I was able to get in 107 miles today. That makes 22 100+ milers since November 2019. I hope next week I can get in 120+ miles, if the weather permits. Today we battled a big headwind for the first half, then cruzed home. We did get hit with some nasty crosswinds a couple of times and almost got blown over.

Week #9 Another milestone, 80K Strava miles

Week #9 - 391 miles

Another good week on the bike. I got in two 100+ mile rides this weekend and went over 80K Strava miles. I first got on Strava in December of 2014 and did 3 rides that month. Since then my yearly mileage has been, 2015 - 14,575 mi., 2016 - 14,952 mi., 2017 - 15,544 mi., 2018 - 13,774 mi., & 2019 - 18,246 mi. I know all of this base work I have been doing will pay off this year when I start doing these longer endurance races. I hope to hit 100,000 miles after the first of next year, if everything goes as planned. You never know, but I feel very lucky that I am able to spend as much time on the bike as I do now. My next 2 Saturdays will be spent working so I will only have 1 long ride in. I am hoping that I can get in 120+ miles each Sunday, but we will see.
