Week #17 Big mileage / Little wreck

Week #17 - 517 miles

I got in my 3rd week of 500+ miles for the year and 24th 100+ mile ride this week. I have to admit my body is a bit tired. I also managed to crash earlier in the week going around a corner. The front tire slid out and I landed on my left side fairly hard. Not bad, just a lot of road rash. I am happy to get in back to back 100+ mile rides these last two weekends. The nice thing is I usually feel better on Sunday than I do on Saturday. Hopefully that means I am getting really fit. The plan is still on to do 300 miles on May 23rd. I hope the weather will cooperate so I can get it completed.

Week #16 Keep plugging along

Week #16 - 451 miles

Still at it and getting miles in. Saturday was a tough day since I had the bike loaded down and there was a headwind for the first half of the ride. I actually came back an hour faster. My legs are still feeling good and with 1742 miles in the last 4 weeks. Today was my 22nd ride of over 100 miles for 2020. Not sure how many I will get in this year but at least they will make me strong when racing does resume, hopefully later this year. Right now the plan is to get in a 300+ mile ride in May. I will plan on Memorial Day weekend but it will depend on the weather. The ride will be based from home so I don't have to carry everything with me - 3 x 100 mile loops. Should be a fun time!

Week #15 20th 100+ miler for 2020

Week #15 - 375 miles

Saturday was probably the best day we will have all spring for a ride. Even though there was a little rain when I started my ride, it turned out to be a beautiful day to get in 140 miles. My goal is to keep up with the long rides so when or if racing happens later this year, I will be ready. The second part of Saturday's ride was the Quarantine Gravel Worlds course, which turned out to be an awesome loop. It had a little bit of everything from some good climbs to a mile of MMR (could be a challenge if it was muddy). I plan on going back and see if I can ride it a little faster w/o having a 70 mile warmup.

Week #14 DK moved to September

Week #14 - 414 miles
March - 1614 miles

Well it looks like DK is moving to September, so that kind of changes my gameplan for the next few months. I am not surprised that they made the call and September may actually be too early for anything to happen. I would expect that any June races will be called off soon. This is going to make for a very busy fall of racing if they all happen. I am not quite sure how my legs are going to hold up, but with all of these base miles this winter and early spring, I should be able to handle it.
