Week #22 Recovery is going well
Week #22 - 374 miles
May - 1901 miles
My body seemed to recover rather well after last Saturday's ride. I guess that all of these miles I have put in are working. A few milestones happened this week - I rolled over 85,000 Strava miles, got in my 30th 100+ mile ride for 2020, and finished the month with 1900 miles / 120 hours. I am trying to figure out what next big adventure I am going to try to get in this summer. Probably going to wait until July to do a real big ride, but June hopefully will have a few fun things happening.

Week #21 DIYXL
Week #21 - 514 miles
So 300+ miles is hard no matter how well you are prepared. I would say overall, I had a good day. There were so rough patches along the way, but I would like to think of it as a great learning experience.
The first 100+ miles were just down the trail past Beatrice starting at midnight. The rain had stopped but the trail was a little soft in places. I felt real good and the miles went bye fairly quick. On the second loop I rode most of it with Ean Kiddoo. We headed northeast of Brainard and did most of the climbing during the day. My legs were struggling a bit on quite a few of the climbs. Between mile 150 - 180 seemed to take forever. As I was getting back into town, I started to feel a little sick to my stomach. I stopped into a gas station and had a Sprite and some food to get me home. Once I was able to get home and get more food into me, began to feel a bit better. For the next 60+ miles Josh Shear joined me and we headed out on MoPac. We kept the pace steady the whole way, but I was having a hard time eating much. I stopped and got another Sprite and had some solid food on the way back into town. Just the little pick-me-up I needed. Once we got back into town, I had a nice surprise and Kris Hartner was going to get to ride the last 35 miles with me. We headed down the Jamaica Trail and picked up a little bit of gravel in the middle of the ride.
So I ended the day with 302 miles at 18:36 ride time (16.2 mph) and 20:42 overall (14.3 mph). I probably took a little longer at the stops than I had originally planned, but then I was trying to set any records during this ride. Always a good day when you get to push the boundaries of your body. I feel that I learned a few good tips on what I need to do differently the next time I tackle something like this.

Week #20 I think I am ready
Week #20 - 398 miles
I tried to take things easy this week. I opted to do my long ride on Friday since the weather was nice. I got in 108 miles and felt good and my legs felt really good the next day, so that is a good sign. On Sunday I was having a great ride through Wilderness until I had a stick go through my tire and tube. Unfortunately it was a fairly new tire, but I was a to boot it and ride home. Got to look on the positive side!
The plan for next Saturday is to start at midnight and ride down the trail past Beatrice and back. Looks like the wind is going to be out of the south so the next route will probably head out South 2nd and work my way towards Wilber. We will have to see how the wind is later in the day for the last section. I hope to be done before dark, but it will depend on how things go and how long I end up stopping during the day. The goal is no longer than 30 minutes at the house between stops. We will see, but no matter what, it should be a fun day!

Week #19 Legs are starting to feel rested
Week #19 - 401 miles
I am starting to feel a little bit more rested. I just did one ride over 100 miles this week since the last 3 weeks have had 2 big rides each week. Next week I will back off the mileage a little, but still try to get in a 100 miler on Saturday. Long range forecast looks like there may be a little rain for my big ride, just hope the wind stays down. I do have the option of changing the date if the weather gets real crappy. Hopefully everything will go as planned and then I can start planning my next big adventure.

Week #18 Probably last big week until the Big Ride
Week #18 - 412 Miles
April - 1869 miles
Another solid week on the bike. On Wednesday, I got in a fairly hard 100 miler down and back to Beatrice on the trail. Kept a steady pace the whole way, but probably should have taken a bit more food and drink with me. Saturday I went and did the Tour of Dirt Roads course and it was awesome. The MMRs were all dry which was a big help. Can't imagine how hard it would be if it was even a little bit wet - lots of hike-n-bike. Hopefully these next two weeks I can get rested up and be ready to roll out 300 miles in one day over the Memorial Day weekend. The plan is still go at 12:00 am on Saturday and finish that evening. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
