Week #26 Things are starting to heat up and hopefully dry out

Week #26 - 507 miles

Got a good ride in on Saturday and was able to miss the big storm. The trail down to Marysville was soft, mushy, and washed out in spots. It was pretty so going all the way down but things began to dry out on the way back. I did get in 160 miles in 10 hours, yep - not fast, but good saddle time. Still trying to get the Focus adjusted to be a little more comfortable. I may end up switching saddles one more time. This next week will be a really high mileage week. I am taking Thursday through Sunday as my own little mini training camp. If everything goes as planned, I will try to get in 170 mile ride on July 4th and 100+ miles the other days. This will be my last big week leading up to the Colorado trip. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Week #25 Some things go as planned, others don't

Week #25 - 458 miles

Getting the Focus Cayo set up for the big Colorado ride. It's all tuned up and ready to go. Well, not quite! About 7 miles from home today, I broke a spoke. Hopefully I can get it fixed this week. It was kind of nice to get in 115 miles today at a decent time. Being on the pavement does have its advantages. I got in my 34th 100+ ride in today. The body is a little tired but I will roll over 10,000 miles YTD this coming week. I will probably try to keep doing a long road ride on Sundays until the Colorado ride on the last Friday in July.

Week #24 Out exploring

Week #24 - 381 miles

On Saturday I rode southeast of town to find some new MMRs. I rode on a few from The Tour of Dirt Roads course, but also found a few more. Lots of time when I am down in that area the roads are wet and I can't get down some of the MMRs. Saturday was good and dry so it was nice keep exploring! The next few weekends I will probably spend a little more time on the Focus in order to prepare for the Colorado trip. I will probably do a long road ride on July 4th weekend, but I might also try to get down to Marysville on the trail in the next couple weeks. I will need to ride with the bike loaded with packs to see how it rides.

Week #23 It's got hot

Week #23 - 454 miles

My legs seemed to come around fairly well this week and the temperature decided that it needed to warm up to summer. I got out early on Saturday and got in 150 miles on some new roads outside of Beatrice. The day was overcast to start with but the humidity is something we haven't had to deal with this spring. My training must be going well since it was only a couple of weeks ago I was on the bike for 18+ hours. It sounds like the next adventure will be in Colorado at the end of July. Still working out some of the details but it looks like 319 miles, 33K of climbing and going over two peaks of 14K. At least it will be on the road so we can average a little higher pace except when we are going straight up the mountain.
