Week #30 Off to ride in the mountains
Week #30 - 403 miles
Well I guess I am ready for the big adventure next week. I know that I have put in the work this year, but the altitude still concerns me a bit. I know that I will need to just ride the climbs under control and I will be ok. It will also be nice to travel and see some folks along the way. I am not 100% sure what my next adventure will be. I have had the Cannonball 550 on my calendar, so I may go down to Emporia in September and do it. I also plan on riding from the Kansas border to the South Dakota border, just need to work out the logistics and a day with a south wind.

Week #29 Last big day until the fun in Colorado
Week #29 - 471 miles
Saturday was another long day in the saddle starting a little after 3am. I headed down to Marysville on the trail. The wind was blowing out of the south, but the trail does block it a bit. There was a storm off the the east but the trail was dry this time. Having the first 3 hours in the dark and the next 3 hours there was good cloud cover. Once I headed back from Marysville, I had a tailwind and the sun came out. By the time I got to Beatrice, things were starting to warm up. The tailwind was nice but a little cross wind may have felt better. The last 4 weeks have been over 2,000 miles, so I should be ready to get 300+ miles in one day.

Week #28 It may not look like a recovery week, but it was.
Week #28 - 426 miles
Even though I got in quite a few miles this week, it still was a recovery week from last week. Saturday was my 40th ride over 100 miles for the year. I was a slow day since it rained in the night and the gravel was super soft for the first 3 hours. I think that my legs are still a little tired from last week and that made it even harder. I will do a 8+ hour ride next Saturday and then start to rest up for our big Colorado adventure.

Week #27 Covid Training Camp (4 days / 485+ miles)
Week #27 - 668 miles
June - 1924 miles
This week consisted of a 4 day training camp that included just me. I was able to get in just over 485 miles in the 4 days and a 165 mile ride in on Saturday. Everything went well considering I did a 160 mile ride last Saturday also. I have been pleased how things are shaping up to the big ride at the end of the month in Colorado. I am still a little worried about the altitude going over the 2 peaks on our ride. I think the trick is going to hold back a little on the first climb to make sure the body doesn't get fatigued early on. As always, a lot can happen in a full day of riding.
