Week #47 Over 20K for 2020

Week #47 - 432 miles

I got over 20,000 miles this week, so one big goal completed for the year. Depending on how the weather holds out in December, I think I might be able to finish around 22K. Also I have been able to keep my streak of riding every day so far. This week I was able to get in 2 100+ mile rides which brings me to 63 of them for the year. I thought I might be able to get in 70 but that might be a stretch. Hopefully all of this hard work will pay off in 2021 once racing gets back on. For December I hope to get that 100 miler in Wilderness Park and I may do a real long ride for my birthday (maybe 200 miles). I can say having the suspension fork on the Kona is a game changer. My arms are thanking me each time I ride it.

Week #46 Getting close!

Week #46 - 474 miles

We had a great week of weather and got in some good rides. Really nice to ride to be warm in the afternoon. I know that things will turn for the worse soon but hopefully the winter won't be that bad. A couple more days and I should roll over 20K for the year. After a shorter week last week, I had a decent amount of miles this week. I thought I might get over 500 but not quite. I was also happy to get a suspension fork (Marzocchi Bomber Z2) and it is nice. Today I rode 40+ miles out in the park and I could feel the difference. Nice and smooth over the trails. I am hoping in a couple of weeks to get a hundred miler in Wilderness Park.

Week #45 96,000 down, but still going / 60 big rides so far

Week #45 - 382 miles

I made it over 96K this week, but the old body is getting tired. This was my first week under 400 miles in 21 weeks. I still got in 120 miles on Saturday and it actually felt fairly good. This was my 60th ride over 100 miles for 2020. Four of those rides have been over 200 miles, with the longest being 400 miles. The wind has been the big issue this whole year. It seems like it has blown about every day, not really, but close. All of this should be good lead up training to Iowa Wind and Rock in April. I hope that the conditions aren't horrible but manageable for the race. This time I will be actually going there to race and I believe I have learned a lot about endurance cycling in the past couple years. 340 miles will be a challenge but I know I will be up for it.

Week #44 19K and counting down 2020

Week #44 - 489 miles

This week I surpassed 19,000 miles for the year and I had my 59th ride of over 100+ miles. Hopefully I can still get in one more real long ride this year if the weather will cooperate. I also went over 20K on my Trek Boone this week. It has probably been the most durable bike I have own. This past week the weather was so nice until the wind kicked in this weekend. Looks like the moisture will return in the next few days. It has been nice this fall and not having to ride in much crappy weather so far.

Week #43 95K and counting

Week #43 - 467 miles

                October - 1927 miles

Well I am 10 months through 2020 and things are still rolling along. Now over 95K Strava miles but it will be next year before I hit 100K. I also just got in my 20th consecutive week of 400+ miles. My body is a bit tired most of the time and it showed on Saturday's ride into the wind. Unfortunately the wind shifted and I managed to have a cross-head wind for most of the day. Made for a long day while getting in 134 miles. That was my 58th ride over 100 miles for 2020. In two weeks it will be 52 weeks that I started riding 100+ miles every week, except for the one week in February that I missed it. I wasn't even thinking of doing a 100 miler every week back then or I would have tried to get one in. This week the temperature is supposed to be above normal, so I hope to get some good miles in and maybe get another 500+ mile week in.
