Week #51 6 years done & over 22K for 2020

Week #51 - 453 miles

So it all started with this craziness back on December 21, 2014. Who knew that just over 6 years later cycling would become such a huge part of my life. A lot has happened in those six years, but cycling has been able to get me through the hardest times. Next month I should be able to get over 100,000 miles but I never thought that I could get in 22K this year. I have set quite a few goals to accomplish this year, some didn't get made, but I am happy with the ones that did. 2021 will look a little different with some new challenges to go after. Hopefully a few races and a little traveling involved.

Week #50 Over 98K

Week #50 - 357 miles

I rolled over 98K for lifetime Strava miles this week. I also found a cool heatmap and got to see all the places I have rode in the past 6 years. I have a little bit of work to do in order to finish off Lancaster county and then I will start working on Gage county. I will have that as a goal to reach for 2021. This past week was our first big snowstorm of the year and it also got cold. My mileage was a little lower again this week since the conditions were not so great. I did get to see this nice little fox on a ride the other night. He or she sat right by the trail as I stopped. We had a nice little chat. Only 450 some more miles to go this year and I can actually get over 22K. Never thought I could get that many miles in, but who knew we wouldn't be racing all year either.

Week #49 21K done and now having to deal with snow

Week #49 - 458 miles

Well I made it over 21,000 miles so far and there are a couple weeks left. Today was also my 65th ride over 100 miles. Since we got a few inches of snow I had to stick to pavement for most of the ride. The sun was suppose to come out this afternoon but that didn't happen. The ride was pretty chilly and a little breezy on the way home. Still better than Saturday where the snow from the trail kept clogging up my cassette. Not much fun having to stop every mile and clean it out so it would quite skipping. Hopefully there will be some melting in the next couple days because the ice on the gravel roads isn't real fun.

Week #48 Still pluggin" along

Week #48 - 372 miles
November - 1884 miles

Heading into the last month and my body is a bit tired. It's been a great year so far and super happy that I have been able to ride every day so far. Even though the temperature has been chilly, we have been fairly lucky and no snow so far. If we can just make it till the end of the year, I will be very happy. Been thinking about Iowa Wind and Rock coming up in April and on how I can better prepare myself and the bike. So far I am pretty sure on what bags I will use and have a new lighting system picked out. A lot will depend on the weather that weekend on what to bring, but now I have a good idea on what works. The other thing I finally got around to doing is looking a heat map and seeing what roads I am missing in Lancaster county. Hopefully in the next two months I can complete it. Funny how there are some random sections that I haven't been down. Some may be MMRs that were muddy when I had gone by, who knows.
