Week #5 Got the first big one in

Week #5 - 503 miles

Another big week on the bike. Got in 133 miles today on a beautiful day. We have had some real cold days this month, but we have made up for it with some really good ones also. I have got in 7 rides of 100+ miles during January compared to 2 last year. It helps when I can do them on whatever day it's the warmest now. This is also my second week of 500+ miles for the month. Yesterday I went to Washington County and rode with Randy Root. Some great hills over there! I will try to get back over there to get a few more rides in. One more day in the month to get to the goal of 2000 miles. Just have to get in 85 miles to reach the goal!

Week #4 Very productive week!

Week #4 - 501 miles

Well this turned out to be a pretty good week. I got win two rides of 100+ miles and got over 500 miles for the week. I am glad that I am way ahead of training for IWAR verses where I was at this time last year. Luckily the weather has cooperated for a few days and warmed up a bit. I know we have a long time until winter is over but every day we are getting that much closer to spring. Also things are coming together for Tour de Plains. Champion System is on board for the apparel and Cantu will do wheels for the contest. The website should be up in a couple weeks and hopefully there will be some interest in it. I will start promoting it more this coming week on social media. July will be here sooner than we know it.

Week #3 Got a good week in even with the snow!

Week #3 - 488 miles

We had a mix bag of weather this week. Luckily there were a couple of nice back to back days where I was able to get in a couple 100 milers in. There wasn't very much snow on Saturday and the majority of it should be melted by next Wednesday when it turns cold again. Winter can be ok if we are able to get a few nice days mixed in. Now I am able to pick and choose the days I need to ride long depending on the weather instead of the weekend.

Week #2 Getting things rolling again

Week #2 - 362 miles

Well it was cold this week! Hopefully we will see a break in the weather the next few days. On Saturday I did get in 102 miles and a big part of it was with Ean Kiddoo. It was nice to have somebody along for the ride since the weather didn't warm up as much as I hoped for. The fog set in and made for some tough riding along the way. Luckily the wind wasn't real bad but it seemed like we worked really hard the whole morning and didn't go that fast. Looks like there will be a couple days in the 50s this week so I will try to get in a couple more rides of 100+ miles in. Not sure about doing the Snowball 550 in the first part of February. I am going to wait and see how the weather looks. I don't think I need to ride it if the temperature is going to be real cold at night. I really want to see how my body reacts to riding that far but it might be better to wait until the fall when it is warmer. There is an option of doing 300ish miles which might be a good alternative in the training schedule.

Week #1 Starting all over!

Week #1 - 513 miles

December - 1776

Well that's a rap for 2021 - 21.236 miles and the second complete year w/o a day off the bike. I was lucky to get to ride in some cool spots along the way. Completing IWAR, Ubound XL, & Gravel Worlds - Long Voyage was the big goal for the year. For 2022, the big goal will be the Tour de Plains GRVL Challenge, riding the mileage of the Tour de France each day. It's a little over 2,000 miles in 21 days and I plan on doing most of it on gravel. Hopefully the weather will cooperate since there will be some long days in the saddle. There will be a few more adventures along the way but the most important thing for 2022 will be to keep having fun on the bike.
