Week #4 Still Frigid!

 

Week #4 - 346 miles

Well this week has consisted of ice, snow, and more cold temps. I know it's still January, but I was hoping that our cold snap back in December was going to be it. Well I was wrong. At least the wind hasn't been quite as bad like before. The roads are starting to clear up but there are still a lot of ice and a little snow in the shady sections of the roads. It looks like temps are suppose to be in the 30s by Wednesday. I should still be able to get over 2,000 miles for the month which will be the second January in a row that has happened.

Week #3 The return of Old Man Winter

 

Week #3 - 369 miles

Well the first storm mostly was ice then the next one was snow. Hopefully it will melt a bunch this week before it gets really cold next week. It was probably good to have a bit of a rest week after getting in a big one last week. Saturday's ride of 95 miles flet more like 120+ miles. The roads were frozen at first which was ok but then it started snowing. That is where is went all downhill. Hard to see the ruts and icy spots plus the bike started to pack up with snow. The last hour was pretty miserable getting home. Today was better just really slow going in the park and on the trail. The gravel wasn't that bad. Hoping it will melt off good in the next couple of days. Going to try to get in at least one ride of 100+ miles in the upcoming week.

 

Week #2 Big week down in Arkansas

 

Week #2 - 658 miles

Had a good week down in Arkansas with the Move Up Crew. I was able to get in some good long rides on some pretty good roads. It was nice to jumpstart the year with a solid week. It was also nice to get to ride on some new roads. The gravel in Arkansas has plenty of hills, so getting in some good elevation wasn't a problem. I will definitely want to come back to do a little more exploring.

Week #1 Starting the year off with Ms. Seigla

 

Week #1 - 482 miles

Finally got the Lauf Seigla built up. Still waiting on the Cantu wheels with the dynamo hub, but they should be here soon. I am really liking the Sram Rival AXS shifting and being able to use 700 x 50 tires is a plus. I think this will make for a great bike to do all of the upcoming adventures for 2023. It was also nice to get back to some regular training this week. I got in 2 rides of 100+ miles, which it had been 6 weeks since that had happened. Next week I will spend a few days in Arkansas riding. Really looking forward for some new roads!

Week #53 That's a Wrap!

 

Week #53 - 442 miles

December - 1625 miles

2022 - 25,548 miles

Well 2022 came to a close and I ended up with 25,548 miles and had every ride outside for the year. I also went over 3 years for the ride streak of 69,163 miles. Some big numbers that probably won't be replicated again. Hopefully the ride streak will continue but 2023 will shift a little of the focus towards bikepacking. There will still be some big mileage weeks with IWAR, Flint Hills Ultra, GPGR - Nebraska Project, GW Long Voyage, and Cannonball 550 all planned for the year. I am really excited for the GRGR Project and hope that we can produce a cool video out of it.
